windows sometimes not working + screeching sound
Sometimes probably at least once every drive my windows will not work....when i press the window up or down button they dont move...(its really annoying like when im at a drive threw and i have to open my damn door to order my food...also embarassing)....im guessing i need to replace the motor....but after i wait a while the windows will work again...its like they go out for a while then they come back.....
Also, sometimes...usually when the car is cold....when i start my car it makes a continuous loud screetching noise...(sounds like a bad belt)....5 mins ago i was driving and it only made the screetching noise when i would turn the steering wheel....when im in the process of turning the wheel (even when im at a stand still) it screeches...then when i stop turning the wheel it stops...and then other times its the other situation where its jus continuous and doesnt stop....(also embarassing because the screeching is very loud)....
anyway...any help is appreciated....you guys probably know whats wrong...cause im a noob. oops.gif

first your window prob sounds like the regulaotr on the motor i had the same rpoblem on my pass side and had to change the whole motor i think
second your belt prob sounds like a power steering belt mine is also doing the same thing currently
windows are easy to fix if you can get a new motor no prob to change and the belt im not sure about difficulty because i have been too lazy to do anything bout it yet, but i wouldnt think it would be that hard.

The belts are kind of a pain in the @$$. They are easy to do but to get to the power steering one (I had to replace mine) you have to take them all off. So I would suggest to wait and replace them all. Less of a chance of getting angry with old belts if they break or start squealing 2 weeks later.
All you have to do is loosen some bolts on the alternator, power steering pump, and a/c compressor, and you're good to go. tighten them back up so you have about 3/4 of play (depressing your finger on the belt) Then after about a week of driving, test them again and tighten/loosen them if needed.
Hope that helps.

I have the window problem in my tib.. but for me it is not really a problem. The switches stick sometimes. What happens, when the switch sticks in the up or down position, once the window reaches the end of it's track, it stops. The motor keeps trying to move though. So in order to save the motor, it has a "trip" that when it overheats, cuts off power to the window motor.
This is why your windows "come back" after they cool (and you have touched the switch and made them unstick) the trip resets and the motors can have power again.

thanks for the help guys...
Mad-Machine, ive realized sometimes that my window switches get stuck sometimes, but my windows still go out like that even when the switches have not been stuck.
Also, silvertibbs, how much does it cost to replace all the belts. :?:

I think it was like $40 CDN and a case of beer. wink.gif Rather inexpensive. Take about 4-5 hours depending on how fast you drink the beer.
