Default What is wrong with my car's setup?

My car
2001 Tiburon w/ automatic trans. (9000 miles)
KORE CAI
Onpol BT and BIM
SR 4-2-1 header
Custom exhaust w/ Magnaflow muffler

And this is my problem. I get really slow response from my car whenever I press gas pedal hard after deceleration. One typical example is when I slow down little bit on the street to pass the minor bump. Ex. I slow down until my car goes down to 20-35MPH from 50-60MPH, then after I pass the bump, I press the gas pedal all the way, but I get no response from the engine for a long time (at least feels like it). Then after certain time (while keep pressing gas pedal), my car begins to accelerate with sudden burst. This "lag" that I get is so long that it's not even funny. During this lag time, all I hear (inside car) is very quiet sound of intake sucking air. I think the problem comes from throttle body mechanism... so any comment why my car's lagging? (This also happens when I try to accelerate after the corner)

First.

Next time this happens, lay on the gas pedal a tad slower. Rather than just flooring the pedal, use a slow 3 second motion to floor the pedal.

If this improves your throttle response, chances are your TPS sensor is reading improperly on fast throttle movemetns. You might want to consider replacing it.

If that does NOT solve your Acceleration problem, you can arrange a time to get together with me, and I can hook up my laptop to your car to figure out what sensor is going south, or what is going on.

Maybe you are bogging the engine? Does it do the same thing if you don't floor the pedal?

You can always try re-setting your ECU and see if maybe the fuel maps are messed up.

You could also try changing your tranny fluid to the B&M and see if that helps. I think it is the B&M Trickshift? But I'm not sure...maybe somebody with an auto can comment on this...or do a quick search and you can prolly find it.

Edit: Doh! was posting the same time as random. oh well.

Could be that the transmission isn't downshifting quickly enough when you get on the gas.
Which means it could be something electronic (such as the TPS, like Random suggested).

I forgot to mention something. When I disable overdrive mode for automatic (disable 4th gear), I get almost no lag time at all (doing same stuff to my car). It only happens when I drive with overdrive on.

I always reset my ECU after changing parts from my car, so ECU should be fine.

I am not sure if it's TPS problem since my car runs wonderfully with overdrive mode off... so I guess TPS is working correctly.

i know what you mean silvertibby...
i have an automatic that takes a little while to shift up when i hit the gas. also, when i think about it, i think the whole overdrive thing is correct. there is only a lag with it on. does anyone know why it takes a while for my car to shift or how i can change it?

i'm thinking whatever mechanism it is that locks the torque converter. i hated my auto, and thus, never learned too much about it.
