Ok, i can only imagine that this is pretty common that the RD's have trouble with this. The bolts at the front of the car that hold the transaxle mounting bracket to the car are a bit, let’s say worn. (Hit a few parking curbs when first got the car ) They are still sturdy, but i worry if i have to remove them. Is this something that has been covered before. I did a search and some random surfing of the forums. Any help would be great.

looks like your missing your plastice panels underneath, but they still dont cover your bolts, my opinion watch how you drive, or find a junk car with them but it might have the same problem, or go to the dealer and spend a bunch of money on two bolts.lol

As long as there is still something there, a vise grip pliers will be able to grab it. If there is totally nothing there, it would take zero minutes to weld a stub of a bolt onto the ground-down stock bolt that remains, so you can remove it. Consider how much meat there is left, and think how long it took to get down that far, and how much more careful you are with the front of the car now . . . and don't sweat it

Thanks for all that info.

To be honest i was thinking about finding a junker and replacing the bolts, then spot welding some sort of "skid plate" to the frame to protect them. I say that because this car is driven by the wife too and she has no depth perseption.

:biggrin: gotcha. In that case, see if you can turn them with a wrench, then if so skip the replacement bolts and go directly to a skid plate.

replace them if you need too, build a skid plate if you want. you could probably get them off with a pair of vice grips like he said, but if all fails try an extractor socket like this one, hammer it on, and you can get it out.
