Hey guys im just posting cuz im looking to get a second thought , well im trying to sell my tranny over on HP http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/t...pic.php?t=55451
Pretty much i need to know if the 2.0L tranny off a 99 tib will fit on the 1.8L 97 tib , too my findings it will bolt right up only having differ gear ratio's and to change out the speedometer, i know my boy loneshark here he put the 99 tranny in hes 2000, but both where 2.0L motors on each, i also figure they all be the same bolt up due to the fact oversea's they still get that 1.6L thanks for any help

you are correct, its a direct swap and has shorter gearing.. you get to pet the monkey, but I dont understand why you will have to change the speedo?

actually, the tranny used on the available 1.8s is the same found on the 2.0 in 2001. the tranny with shorter gearing could be found on the 2.0s from 97-00.

or so says the webtech. :?

yes, weird indeed. 4th and 5th gears are the only ones that are different. they are taller by .03(4th) and .053(5th).

maybe ill throw on a 98 2.0 tranny and get some better gas mileage. wink.gif :?:
