Tranny/clutch And Brake Questions
few questions on my tranny, clutch and brakes that i need help with
first off the the tranny and clutch
1. i plan to get the ACT Clutch, the one that holds 236 ft/lbs with the streey disc (part# HY1HDSS)
now do i need the clutch 'kit' when changing out my clutch? or will just throwing in a new disc without a aftermarket pressure plate just cause fitment and running problems
2. its been discussed before but im just looking for a one word answer, is the findanza flywheel honestly worth the extra cash over the second lightest one?
3. i got a synchro thats pretty much gone in 3rd gear, since my clutch is going to be out of the car, is there anything i can do about that or is that pretty much a mechanic only thing
for the brakes...
i plan to get those rotorpros from screwdriver but have a few problems with my rear driver side brake
since the accident my e-brake line has been freeze anytime it gets anywhere near freezing temps 0 c, read that spraying wd-40 in the brackets that run the line or hold it should work so that might fix that, but im starting to hear grinding noises when i brake from that tire and usually can hear a slight grind while moving but it isint constant, sorta pulses, like grind...............grind............... grind, sorta imagine it as if the rotor was warped and only abit of it scrapes the pads every rotation or something, but this isint while going super slow either so im pretty sure the tire makes at least a few rotations before each grind
would new rotors/pads solve this? cause i dont want to mess up those new ones
or do i need to replace the rotor caliper and e-brake line
that should be about it for now till i go tackle the rest fing02.gif

1) if you just get a disc it should stop a slipping clutch, but you wont have any more gripping power and it will still bite harder, which is giving you the bad part about an aftermarket clutch(harsher engagement) without the good part (more power capability)
2) This cant be answered in one word or one definitive answer, because its not a question of fact, its a question of opinion; some people will tell you yes some people will tell you no. If you want performance and not trade a kidney for it, go chromoly. if you want that extra 3lbs off the weight and the cool fidanza name, get the fidanza. But just so you know, lighter flywheels can make starting off a line regularly (say at a light) more difficult, youll have to slip the clutch a bit more and give it more gas. This is a little more apparent in a super-light flywheel like the fidanza, i didnt notice too much of a difference with the chromoly.
3) while the tranny is off take it to a mechanic and replace all the syncros (might as well do all of them)
and for the last problem sounds like you have a rotor/pad problem, pull off the wheel and the brakes and inspect visually
