Bear with me, as im not an avid tiburon specialist.

When driving the car normaly, it runs good.

When at WOT it runs great until it gets to something i call the VTAK!!!! zone....about 4500 rpms you can literally feel the pull of the car stop. It still makes a lot of noise, and doesnt noticeably miss, but something isnt right.

Can anyone help me out here?

 

Did you ever run your car while you had a misfire? This sounds like the same problem i had recently, after running on a misfire the extra fuel can ignite from the heat in the cat and melt the honeycomb like material giving you a clogged cat. you could try getting an exhaust backpressure test to see if this is the cause.

I have not ran the car knowingly with a misfire. I will check the cat though. Ill probably just end up removing it. I work offshore so i wont be able to work on it for another week, but ill give it a look see

As for your problem, I read it when you posted it and don't really understand. Can you be more specific what the problem is and just keep it straight?


Sounds like you are saying it drives fine until you hit upper RPM's and then it studders or runs crappy, but doesn't die. I think.

If so, sounds like the old stand by, the TPS is probably a Dae Sung and bad, or is just bad.

As for the problem. When i hit the gas WOT in any gear, the car pulls great up until about 4500 rpm's.

When it hits approx 4500, it just loses "the pull" if you will. It doesnt really start to run any worse audibly, it doesnt stutter, or miss, or backfire, it just simply doesnt pull as hard, and noiticably.



What is the "old stand by"? or do you mean that its a common problem?

got ya. Now if i were to go to the parts store and buy a new tps, would it be a better unit than the dae sung?

 

Well, there is also the common conception of the "Flat Spot" around 4K RPM, especially on lightly modded or stockish cars. Not a ton you can do about it if that is what it is.

If it were the TPS, it would be almost undrivable. It could just be STARTING to go out too.

When you get home, tell us what word is on the side of the TPS, Keifco or DaeSung.

 

You can also tap/wiggle the TPS and if the idle fluctuates it can also be bad. But general consensus is dae sung=bad and should be replaced anyways.
