The butterfly's of some bbtb's "stick" when you let off the throttle, how do you fix this issue?

I saw a thread with tibby01 saying he took a dremel to his..can you elaborate a bit? I don't want to start hacking up my nice BBTB without first knowing what I'm doing

First try cleaning it.

Second, you could adjust the screw so it does not close all of the way.

I'd like to know too. Mine is still sticking, damnit. I'm planning on smoothing out the metal ridge that the butterfly has worn into the TB, I'm pretty sure that's the problem.

Although mine is sticking in the closed position, not open.

If you tighten the bolt next to the rotors, It will stop it from closing all the way, hence not sticking.

It is closing too far if it is doing that. Like / insted of I

Just turn the bolt 1/4 turn and it shoud solve your prob

I'll give that a shot. If it was that simple all along I'll then proceed to kick myself.

What do you use to smooth out the inside of a TB? It is metal so what bit/piece/whatever on a dremel or rotary tool do u use?

I took apart my r-side BBTB and if you look at the edges of the butterfly valve it shows that the valve itself is SUPPOSED to close like / instead of straight up and down.. the outer edges are shaved at an angle so that when the valve is like / it makes an airtight chamber.

If your butterfly is closing straight up and down, you probably have indents in your TB from the metal cutting into the inside walls of the TB. And probably lookes like little groves where the butterfly valve closes...

Fix it so the butterfly valve shuts like / and not stright up and down and you should be fine.
Carb Cleaner works good too (if you have the throttle bosy off the car).

I wouldn't dremel it, remove it and go over the edges with some fine sandpaper, maybe a emery cloth. Just clean it all up good. Clean the inside of your TB and get a catch can. Make sure there is SOME sort of lubricant on the bearings/bushing areas.

i used a super fine sanding stone with my dremel around the edge of the butterfly valve, just until it was shiny. then i took a wire brush to the bore where grime had built up from the closed butterfly valve. doesnt stick a bit, and no idle problems at all.
