Make sure you aren't having electrical problems. When I had my old Sentra and the battery would go sometimes the speedo would cut out once the level got low enough in the battery.

No fault, this is normal. 15 is a bit high, but it will not register speeds below 10. Reason being, if you're in a parking lot, you shouldn't be looking at your gauges, keep an eye out for kids.

^ Once again... Seriously.. WTF
Anyways.... Go outside and take off your speed senson, its on the back of the trans.. its blue, cant miss it. See if it has a shaft and a plastic gear on it, if it comes out in pieces, then you got some problems, thats what commonly happens. And your clutch feels like its slipping? its either going to grab, or slip. When my trans started going my speedo did that, I lost second gear, then a day later speedo, then a week later the trans was cracked and Scotts not going anywhere. owned.gif

^^ dude, they do that new from the lot man. They don't start reading until 10 MPH. Your speedo will start at 0 and then all the sudden jump to 10mph.
It's a gear driven system that converts mechanical motion to a pulse and sends that to the ECU. If he were having problems with that, the needle would be bouncing, it would register normally, just bounce all over the place, or sometimes just plain not register at any speed. I think the problem he's having is how the car was designed.

i had that same problem when i fist got my car. like the speedo was superglued to the bottom no matter how you drove. it did that on and off. i took it to my mechanic and he had to open up the gauge and repair it somehow. i need to ask him how he did that. it has something to do with the gauges i think. once he fixed it, it never happened again.
