why do i blow spark plugs like every 2-3K miles? does anyone reccomend any plugs that are better (ie more heat resistace), how are the new NGK Iridium's? anyone have any input, i have heard of this problem with tibs before that they blow plugs, but i am wondering if i spend the $35 and get GOOD plugs if they are going to blow after a few months too..

Also, what wires do you have?

I can't belive ANYONE could blow plugs every 2 to 3 K.

no mods, its more like 5k actually if i recall the date, but it is still more than usual. i have spitfire's in right now i believe. i am looking at a set of the new NGKs (which are supposed to be better than platinum, with a wiring set) about $70 total, that seems like a lot for just plugs and wires, especially if it isn't even going to fix my problem. thats why i was asking. i have had the car since march-april, and this will be the 2nd time i have HAD to replace the plugs

if it continues to happen it might lead me to believe maybe a ring is bad and oil is getting to the plugs over time and shorting them? between this and my tranny problems, i feel like my car is falling apart :-(

I am not quite sure I am following you on the "blown plugs" idea... you saying you are destroying the plugs or are they just getting fouled with oil and gunk?

My car has over a 100,000 on it and I am only on my third set of plugs.. so you do have a problem somewhere.

when you take the crap plugs out, check them to see what the problem looks like. most spark plug boxes have a bunch of pictures of different bad spark plug conditions, and what possible symptoms are of them.
