Sourcing a BETA 1 motor
Anyone know where i can find stock BETA 1's for sale with decent mileage (25k-45k)??? I think i may be slowly loosing compression as my car feels slightly less powerful and with oil consumption beyond my comfort zone. Besides it's got 108k on it and i'd like to build up a motor anyways..
4 cyl engine restore seems to bring life back into the motor though as it claims to restore compression to near stock levels and the engine doesn't consume oil.. hardly at all....temporary solution though...

Check the salvage yards in Fredricksburg VA. My wagon was towed there when it was totaled (by State Farm Ins.). It had less than 40K on it & ran like a top. the engine has HDK cams in it & a K&N air filter. Car was towed around Dec. 06. wink
There's also B&G lowering springs, cross drilled rotors & SS brake lines on it.

Hmm... Just ran across a motor on Ebay for $350, has 29,000 miles on it I think. Don't know if it's a Beta 1 or 2.

I have been trying to source an engine for a long while now. The only shop in this damn country who sells used korean motors don't have 'em. Still looking though...
You lucky guys, you can just go to a junkyard and find all the parts that you need.

Your wagon was towed? Wagon? I'm a bit confused...is it the elantra wagon? How bad was the accident?</div>Yeah, I HAD a @K Elantra Wagon with a Beta 1. The accident was to the front passenger side of the car (hit a an angle on front corner), the frame may have been bent. As far as I could see (revisited car 2 times before being salvaged to remove items) the engine was untouched, just due for an oil change.

Ive got a beta 1 block sitting in my closet. was going to give it away a few months ago, but the fella never showed. needs some minor block work... the result of running a supercharger, and a lean A/F. i had some pics up here somehwere... lemme dig and see if i can find them.
