i just got a short shifter from ebay, it fits fine and doesn't wiggle much. The shifts are much shorter so i like it but theres a problem

my 1st and 5th gear looks like its on 3rd, and my 2nd and reverse looks like its on 4th.

It shifts fine and it engages so i have no problem driving its just that its annoying and sometimes i don't know what gear i'm in.

i think i read about someone with this problem somewhere in this forum but i cant find it anymore, i went through all of the general performance sad.gif

same deal with mine. it looks like it's in first because the lever is straight and not twisted back. i think the only way to fix the problem is by actually bending the s8t out of it with a clamp. i don't know how others have done it but i know i will.

i have an rside. and i'm tired of it not being in the middle. your hand also hits the open cupholder and you can't shift worth a dime because of it.

When you installed the shifter you should have noticed the cables are adjustable, you can adjust them until to your desired position reached.

^^ Word. The cables are made adjustable for a reason.

That's the Megan shifter. Shouldn't be off centered, you SURE you installed it right?

Mine didn't do that.

Anyways, of course, they are talking about the SHIFTER cables.

i found the shifter cables and does things align my shifters neutral position. i dont think i explained my problem correctly on my post...

My shifter is centered and my 2nd (up) and 4th (down) look good. When i shift to first i move my shifter to the left up, and wheni let go of the shifter it moves to the right and is placed where my 3rd gear is surpose to be, but i'm still in first gear. So my 1st and 3rd gear look exactly the same. same with 3rd and 5th, 2nd ,4th, and reverse.

i took it out and reinstalled it, and i was playing around with it before i put the spring back on and wheni put it in 1st gear it stayed in 1st position. but when i put the spring on it bounces the shifter into 3rd position. i'm guessing i'm missing something thats surpose to hold the shifter in gears? something to counteract the spring confused.gif

the spring is supposed to keep the shifter retractable nothing else. ohhhhh so that's what those screws are!! haha. so i guess you can turn the screws on the bushings and straighten it up eh?

My ark SS does that, and I just left it like that cuz it makes it faster to go from 2nd -> 3rd.
