Default Seam welding

Ive heard that seam welding can substantially increase the structural integrity of the unibody. Has anyone gone thought with it?

i know on the rd's alot of the strut tower seams are epoxied together so that's a no-go on one of the most benefical pieces of the steel puzzel.

from what i've read, the seam should NOT be fully welded. 1-2" tack weld are perferred but be careful not to heat any one area too much otherwise one could ruin the unibody due to warping-... also should you ever be in a crash your body shop/insurance are not going to be happy to see all of these tack welds-...

some people do simple spot tacks instead. there are both pro's and con's to this. the pro's are- quicker, less heat, less time, and less skill. the con's- less rigid, more spots vs welds, and more prep-time.

keep in mind in order to do this you're going to have to really srip the hell out of the car in order not to burn up any of the interior.

Yes it can, I guess if you are already there it would be one of those 'may as well' jobs. However, it would take a real wizard to tell the difference in driving impresssions. Iirc most of our cars have no real issue with chassis flex.

If by "our cars" you mean "our cars' drivers" then yes. These cars flex all over the place.

P.S. welding on a unibody car must be done properly to preserve the strength of the body. Get it too hot and spoil the temper and you might end up weakening the area around the weld
