hey people..i picked up a header off of an rd2 at a junkyard..the headers are nice and all but theyre pretty tarnished and have a few minor rust spots which is ok cause they were a blazing 20 bucks (front impact it was a total biatch getting it out..4 hours anyone?) ..anyway whats the best way to clean them up..i seen on a honda forum to sand then polish them but it seems like they'd rust easier later on..another way was to heat them with a torch and polish them....i have 0.0 experience when it comes to cleaning metal so what do you guys suggest?

btw- i wasnt sure where to put this..sorry if its in the wrong place

I'd like to know this too. My RSide 421's are rusted like hell.=/

But then again, I bought em that way. And they perform great!

No more CEL as of today either tehez.

after you sand the header, either jet-hot or high temp paint it.

prolly makes most sense for 2kshark to jet hot it and tibatron to just paint it since 2k's is peformance and tibatron's is just a stocker, but its your money

just throw them in. its not worth the time or money doing that to stock headers. you can polish them, but it will be a lot of work (esp. if you do it all by hand), and will just go back to being rusty very quickly.

I heard that metal under head wrap will rust more.

Better clean it and paint or powder coat.

BTW I also heard that in Coca-Cola, there is H3PO4 (Phosphore acid) that is included in rust cleaning stuff.

be careful, there's a recal on the vehical because of a manifold that cracks. You'd be better off buying headers or having stock ones replaced by the dealer.

^^^You should read all the replys before posting. He already mentioned they were used OBX style header.

Jet hot is nice, but a little expensive. Powder coating might be your best bet... but can it hold up to the temps of the exhaust?
