Rside Advanced Shifter tweaking
got intothe shifter yesterday, to tighten some things up and find out where all this play is coming from.
as you can see the plastic spacers that are on the ends of the base thingy are worn and thinned out, resulting in about 1/16th of space and wiggle on the shaft.
i cut up some soda cans and curled it around the bolt and it helped alot, but its not perfect.
what else could i do to fix these worn bushing/spacer things? plasti-dip them? lol

You should be able to buy some teflon washers at a hardware store., you may have to cut them down to fit... I just put in my r side the other day also(replaced old r side) .I believe 99% of a tibs shifter play comes from the stupid spring...I wish a beefier and stronger spring was made for the shifter!...And a platform of aluminum or steel rather than a weak plastic base , which is held in place with four screws with rubber mounted bushings to absorb the shifting impact so you dont shatter the plastic base lol.. the whole shifter setup is really garbage sadly .

yes, agreed. do you think this style is better? i do...
but it all depends on how much play is at the transmission shifting levers coming out of the trans case. my 99 elantra trans has alot of play, even though it shifts smoothly, there is still a lot of play...
