Green is the pin's used.

Pink is the pin's i didn't use

Red is the Pin's i Contacted to 12V

Black is The pins i connected to Grounds

I used the layout Below. Instead of running the Live sensors to the MFI Control relay i used a normal 12V Feed. (Heater Live Wire/ Camshaft Sensor Live / Coil Pack 12V/Injectors ect)

5V feed was too Map Sensor and TPS sensor (didnt have the resister talked about in the 2nd picture below.

DO NOT USE THIS PIN OUT FOR USA CARS

Immobilizer? You've got me there. If it's separate, see if you can figure out the wiring to bypass it altogether.

No spark always makes me think first of crank position sensor.

nope.. someone please help

The immobilizer is a stand alone Unit..

IT MUST SEND A SIGNAL TO THE ECM

it could be a simple Power or Ground.. or Huge set of binary code.. any ideas how the immobilzer is wired to the ECM i dont see anything on the pinouts

I don't know about the beta I immobiliser. The beta II immobiliser, 'SMARTRA', had a unit that surrounded the ign barrel, an immobiliser unit, and the key itself as one system. I took all three from one car to get it running. I don't think it's your immobiliser though. It would forbid the car from running at all.

The VSS might not prevent the car from running, but it should throw a CEL or at least your ABS light. I've heard of XD elantras not running right with a shitty VSS.

Power relay might need 12V to power the ECM.

Variable resistor? I dunno.

Canister purge valve needs to be wired otherwise you'll get a CEL and rough running.

I'd chase down those unknowns by tracing those pins. Look at the wiring on your old loom and see how everything should look - youll find that most of the relays and subsystems are wired in much the same way between the alpha and beta.

I can't give you any specific advice in regards to the spark being weak and then disappearing. Maybe listen out for any relays ticking on-then-off to see if the whole system is powering up.

Best of luck, wiring is a sh*t.

The smart Unit was used on the newer Cars. On beta 1 we use the same unit as Smartra But its bosch unit i think. It also fits around the key barrel.

I'm trying to get hold of a Beta 1 ECM from state and maybe a MAF because out Betas are Map and MAF i think. (mines a map beta 1)

One more reason to keep my old car: immobilizer is absent altogether.

This discusses the smartra system, may help some hyundaitechinfo > SHOP > ELANTRA(XD) >2002 > G 2.0 DOHC > Body Electrical System > Immobilizer Control System > General > DESCRIPTION

(in related news, I'm glad to see hyundaitechinfo finally has the Accent stuff online)(US spec only though probably)
