Reverse stalls car, CEL now
99 tiburo auto.. ALright.. So the other day, i put her in reverse and put the gas down, then all of a sudden the car acts like it went into neutral until i got below like 1k RPMs then caught gear again.. Never happened before, and didnt happen again so i didnt think anything of it.. Then today, like a week later, i put my car in reverse, and it jsut stalls, and a CEL comes on.. So i try it again, same thing.. It stalled.. So i slowly backed up, got into the space, and did some testing.. I found that it wont stall until i get to about 1300 RPMS or so. I still have a CEL (im resetting it right now).. Anyone have any ideas? All other gears are fine, no problems..
Well.. Figured out what the problem was, kinda.. Pulled into a casino today and BAM the car shut off while i was in drive.. Im like WTF so i coast over to a damn RED ZONE thinking the car would start.. As i stopped i see smoke, so i pop the hood and look in.. The ground cable going from the battery to the chassis is FRIED, only about 2-3 inches left!! So im like holy shit.. Got it fixed though, didnt fry anything else..
It was the cause of my tranny problem.. The red plastic cover covering the positive cable was loose i guess, and when the engine would get load in reverse, the torque of the engine/tranny from going in reverse would push my AEM CAI into it.. Just workked it off finally and zapped it.. Glad it has the rubber reducing coupler going to the MAF..
