Replacement Axle Assembly Parts
I have a 2001 Tiburon with a Manual Transmission and no ABS. I need to replace both Axle assemblies and was looking online and found New Cardone Select Constant Velocity Drive Axle's for around $45 per side but the description isn't to clear on whether they would fit my car or not.
Here are the part #'s that I am looking at:
Driver side - Cardone Select part # - 663254
Pass side - Cardone Select part # - 663236
Summit Racing has notes on the 663254 axle saying its for Automatic Transmissions only. Rockauto shows that axle as being compatible with both Automatic trans and Manual trans. The 663236 axle appears to be compatible with both transmissions.
Has anyone else used these Axles on a 2001 Tibuorn with a MT?
Thx

Some say that axles are a hair longer on the M/T. I was able to reuse the automatic axles when I swapped to a M/T, but I don't know if you should.

Ok, ended up purchasing both axle assemblies from Kragen for $59.99 per side. Ended up going with Master Pro's re-manufactured axles with part #60-3266 for passenger side and part #60-3265 for the drivers side since they had them in stock. Master Pro part numbers are exactly the same as Cardone Part numbers.
It took me and a friend about 3 hours to do both sides with the only problem being the passenger side axle had a spline that was damaged requiring me to file part of it down before I could install it. I also ripped both control arm ball joint boots since I used a pickle fork on them so I put this adhesive/sealant that stays flexible after it dries over the rips. Also the passenger side didn't come with a damper installed and the only way to install one would be to take one of the CV's apart which I decided not to do so hopefully it won't be needed on that axle. Overall the process was easier than I had expected.
Since Napa Autoparts was closed today I was unable to get MT-90 tranny fluid so I can't drive it yet. Hopefully I can pick some up tomorrow to finish the car take it for a test drive before I check and adjust the alignment.
