RD Ebay crap roundup for 18Sep10
Every once in a while I like to look at the crap on ebay. I'm just going to post up my thoughts on some of it. I'm not going to cover any turbo parts because there's a lot of particulars on each part and I'm not a turbo expert.
I'm covering RD body style Tiburons, but the same principals apply to all cars.
generic cold air intake

Looks to be a good flowing smooth bent pipe CAI with proper positioning in front of the wheel well behind the airdam. The price is decent. It does not come with a elbow piece. and stops at the MAF sensor.
Drilled and slotted rotors

There's a ton of them. Make sure you get a warranty. Drilled and slotted rotors don't wear down to nothing, eventually they crack. Choose a good name.

Good deal. These are only available in Korea. This is a good price on them. They are an OEM item.
Altezza tail lights

Does not go with any Tiburon. Chrome tails FTL. I bought a set of these from majikTib a long time ago, I remove the covers, painted them Cobalt Blue and put smoked tail covers on top of them.

This is more of a good style for Tail Lights on a Tib. Like I said before, Chrome does not look good because it says "hey look at me, i purchased a set of tail lights" Smoked or natural colored lights say "this car is naturally badass"
Xenon license plate lights

First off, they're not Xenon. Xenon (HID) requires a ballast. Seccond, it would be pointless to have a elaborate licence plate setup like that. Third, these are just some blue tinted bulbs. You can buy them at autozone for cheaper.
100W headlights

If they are actually 100W, they will burn out the fuses or wiring to the headlamp. Since they are a filament bulb, they are very inefficient and cary with them a lot of heat.

Total marketing scam. They are not HIDs. HIDs require a ballast. However, they are a good price for a set of bulbs.

Another marketing scam. After you buy the bulbs (which WILL get you pulled over because of their color, 12000K), you still need to buy the ballast.
H7 6000K low beam HIDs

Looks like a ok deal for HID bulbs. These will fit RD2. 6000K is stock on most HID equipped cars. You may be happier with 8000K bulbs to get a "new look". Tiburons handle HIDs well and don't blind other drivers when they are aligned properly.

This is a piece of sh*t which makes the car sound turbocharged. It adds restriction to the exhaust and would not be found on any respectable tuner's car.

lol. Yeah.. lets line the intake with restrictions. The Throttle body butterfly valve and the MAF's screen will turn any swirling of the intake back into laminar (straight) flow anyways.
Exhaust header

Looks like a great price for an exhaust header. It may be flimsy material, but pretty much any header is going to be the best upgrade to the exhaust system you can do to a Beta engine. The stock exhaust header is restrictive. This header may buzz a bit, but it will give a performance upgrade at a good price.

It is a good thing to have if you're maxing your electrical system. It should be used in conjunction with a capacitor. It basically pre-pulls charge from your battery and provides near 0 resistance electricity to anywhere that needs it, like the ignition coils or blinkers when the alternator gets drawn down hard.
XTR/F1 Stage 3 clutch

f*ck no. Oh hell no. Stay away from the F1 or XTR clutches. I tried this clutch and it was JOLTING, and the throwout bearing kept popping out. I removed it within a week.

Don't confuse XTD for XTR. This Flywheel is Certified for use in NDRA competitions. I have it in my car and it works well. This is a good flywheel

looks to me like it could work, ive seens dyno's of it not working on a 5 series bmw, but thats BMW...

Mr. Muffin: thank you for making it so clear! This chip is worthless. It may work on a single car, but it's never been published that our cars can be controlled by OBD port. It would definately not be a "ISO Protocol" thing. The only information specified in ISO protocol is mode $01, 2, 3, 4, 5,7 and 9. Mode 6 is manufacturer speciffic diagnostics and mode 8 is manufacturer speciffic control. There's no way that chip works.
