You know, that restrictor plate sounds like a good idea but . . . I got used to it holding the throttle for me between shifts so I'm ambivalent. If I ever have to get in there again (and I remember) I'm sure I'll do it and like the result.

What would you clean the IACV with?

I'll check this next tank to see what it gets. Didn't even think of resetting the ecu. I'll unhook the battery for a bit.

What is this IACV restrictor plate? Any pics? Never heard of it before.

When I had my idle air control valve off, I had the valve side swimming in B-12 chemtool. I wouldn't try to clean it on the car, but it comes off pretty easily.

So are you saying spray carb cleaner in just the hose that goes to the sensor? Or actually spray/soak the sensor itself with carb cleaner? Confused...

And where do you find info about removing the restrictor plate from the IACV?

PUT THE STOCK INTAKE BACK IN before you go on a wild goose chase.

It was the only thing you changed, and now you have a problem. The restrictor is a piece of soda can that you use to restrict airflow around the throttle body when the throttle plate is shut. I don't have my own photo, but:

Air flows from A to B

So make a restrictor that reduces the size of holes A and B. Takes 20 minutes including rest breaks.

Oh wow, this whole time I was thinking of the little Idle Air Sensor that plugs into the left side of the air intake tube.

But you guys have been talking about the Idle Air Control Valve that has 2 hoses going into it on the back of the engine valve cover right? That thing is expensive, about $150-200, so I don't want to break it. So spray carb cleaner into the 3 ports where hoses go right? And leave the little sensor in the intake tube alone?

My bad, I mixed up the two parts.

There aren't any bloody hoses going to the IACV. Don't touch it. Just... don't.

PUT THE STOCK INTAKE BACK IN, it takes like five minutes man cmon.
