Default Project LS, the 2000 Tib

Bought her, threw in a man trans to replace the dead automatic, fixed all the iffy bits.

Had her on the road a month, got in an accident, she's on the short road to being "totaled" by the other persons ins co.

Starting in on the "get her going again" phase now that the assessor has done his bit, worst case I waste my time.

I'll link yall to my build thread on HRCS, since it's easier than re-posting all the prior content.

So needless to say, I'm starting in on front fender removal today, to see just how bad the front end is tweaked.

Well, you are obviously not afraid of a bit of work. Good luck on the repairs.

Sweet man, I just read through your build thread. I like how you work dude. Why not just update two threads at once? I do that with my other car, forum code is basically the same wherever you go, with the exception of smilies that sometimes fail.

I'm about to head out to the wrecker's yard, btw.

Yeah, my truck build thread gets updated at 3 forums using essentially the same updates, that's exactly the way I am going to do it here.

Hardest part will be leeping the smilies consistent between them all!

WOOHOO!

Bent lower control arm and a bowed-out strut!

Oh, and somehow a brake line to the rear decided to rot-through while NOT under pressure, so now I also need to run another line.

Put a new control arm in last night, getting the strut swapped around tomorrow with a spare lower half.

Don't want to put the coilovers in till I'm SURE that the body isn't tweaked to a non-driveable condition.

I still love this car though. Yep, still do. Must be insane, but yep, still loving it. Mhhhm, she's a beauty...

Seems that what happened is the line popped when I slammed on the brakes in the accident, but only a small pinhole that allowed the reservoir to drain out slowly, creating the illusion of the line going bad while sitting.

Sucky part is it's one of the main line from the prop valve to the rear, and I know when I touch it they'll both fall apart.

Yippee...

She was indeed totaled, got the call today.

Good news is, in NY at least, since the claim was not subrogated, and the other parties insurance company does not insure my car, I don't have to get a salvage title or buy back the car!

The settlement was fair, and it all came together rather well.

I'm going to get the body pulled back out, grab a fender, and get on with the quest.

Translating to English: they give you money because their insured wrecked your car, you keep and repair the car, party on?

Stocker, you got it.

If I had to make the claim through my insurance, I'd have had to buy-back/deal with a branded title.
