Default Possible 02 problems?

Hey guys, I just went to AutoZone and had my CEL checked out. It turns out that I have 3 codes. The first is P0132 (bank 1 sensor1), second is P0141(heater circuit) and the last is P0138 (circuit high voltage, for the second 02 sensor). I've had these codes for awhile now, ever since I first put in my 4-2-1 header a short while back. I just recently replaced that header with a ceramic 4-1 header and I cleaned the O2 sensors and disconnected the battery and reset the computer several times but the codes still come up. I also have a small carsound cat that was for a Stang but i was able to buy it brand new for $30 so I took a chance on using it. All the codes are O2 sensor related but there can't be two bad O2 sensors..or could there? I've only have 56,000 miles on my 2000 Tib so the 02 sensors should still be good..especially after I cleaned them. I think the problem maybe with the high flow cat but I want to see what you guys think. Thanks in advance

Maybe you damaged the sensors when you were cleaning them?

I dunno. I wish I could help you, but I dont know that much about O2 sensors.
Hopefully someone will come in here and have a better idea of the problem.

Yes, both sensors can get damaged. If your running rich the first sensor can quickly get damaged. Concidering you have a mustang highflow cat, do you know how well it works? If the first sensor fails, the car will won't know how your A/F is. It will run rich and end up destroying your 2nd sensor aswell. Thats the situation I'm currently in aswell. I just had my first sensor replaced, and I'm buying the 2nd one tomorrow. The damn suckers are a bit pricey.

Thanks for answering x7x, I appreciate it.

Tanc, that makes alot of sense..the Stang cat is a carsound, a little bit smaller then your conventional cat but looks identical on the inside to any other carsound out there as I went to a muffler shop and had a looks at their's. Those 02 sensores are expensive, $120 buck each. I wonder if I could just replace the norrow band with a wideband sensor so I could tune my SAFCII?

usually, the tool for a wideband that displays af and all will have a narrowband output, so you can hook it up to your ecu.

/ yeah but why not upgrade?? I think it'll work Cyber, if the wideband doesn't come with the narrowband attachment I'm sure you can hook up ONLY the required wires and still use all the functions of the wideband.

First of all, I want to thank you guys for helping me out. Second, I found an O'Reily's in Corpus that had O2 sensors for $59!! I bought a pair and put them both in last night. Well the ECL came on again a few hours later and boy was I pissed. I went to AutoZone this morning to see what codes were coming up, I had P0131 and P0138 and then I went to get my hair cut. Well when I was leaving the barber shop, the ECL went off. I don't know what happend but I'm glad this story has a happy ending...hopefully it stays that way wink1.gif

It prolly just had to go through a couple engine cycles to make sure that the problem was solved. I'd say you're good to go.

Glad to hear it was a happy ending as well.
