OK, I have a 1998 hyundai accent that I put a 1997 1.8l tib motor in, I had to put an alternator in the car and I happened to have one from a 03 tiburon (BETA 2). I noticed that it is never to eager to start in the morning, like it fires up OK, but it is slow to turn over, the starter seems sluggish, like its not getting enough power. I hook up my multimeter to it and it tells me the battery hold about 11.8 volts and the alternator is putting out about 12.8 when running, now from my tibs I know she should be producing about 14.5 at idle, any ideas? the alternator only had like 15k on it, so I think its OK, any other ideas? maybe the crank pulley is too small and its not spinning the alternator fast enough? its got a new emiminator battery, so i dont think it is that. she runs OK, but its my winter beater, I want it putting out like 15v.

The alternator sounds like it's going bad and will need to be replaced soon. They can check at auto zone, should be running at 14.4 volts. There could be a possibility that your belts need to be tightened also.

the belt only has 15k on it, that was the first thing i checked, the car is kind of a frankinstien of parts, tib, elantra, accent, beta 1, 2, alpha, i actually put a part from a 93 elantra on it.
