the phantom grip is not a true lsd. it locks the diff together to make both tires spin equally which makes it act like an lsd.
i would not recomend this as a cheap alternative to a real lsd because it is a big block of metal with tention springs placed in the stock diff. the phantom grip does have a life time warranty but your diff will not. of course the phantom grip will not break but your diff will.
honda and mitsubishi guys use the phantom grip on low horse power cars and have no problem. there have been 2-3 people use them on tibs and had to replace the tranny after the diff grenaded inside due to the phantom grip.
i know this sounds like a lot of he said she said but that is why tuners out there get together on forums to share advice so others out there wont go out and make that same mistake.
one person may like it and another may have a bad experiance and hate it. i dont trust it because cheap is never an option when it comes to good tuning.
the kaaz and the quaife are true full replacement lsd's. this means you will take out your stock diff and replace it with the kaaz or quaife. the quaife does come with a life time warranty, i am not sure if the kaaz does.
the kaaz will have to be rebuilt after 2-3 years of use but the quaife will not.
the phantom grip cost $200-$300 and the quaife cost $980, i am not sure about the kaaz. i think it cost about the same if not more than the quaife.
i have a quaife and i am a dealer for them so it may seem that i lean more towards them. well i do because it is a true lsd and there is no other alternative to a true lsd.
if your thinking about buying a phantom grip, there is one on e-bay and one was here also. if you get it, let us know how things turn out. you may be the first to have a good experiance. if your diff grenades then let me know if you want a quaife after you buy a new tranny.

well.. the three "diffs" are compleatly different.
The Kaaz unit is your typical clutch plate unit.. it simply keeps the wheels spinning together when under accelerating and braking, but the clutch will allow the wheels to spin independantly when turning
Quaife is a headache to figure out how it works. Instead of clutches, it uses helical cut gears in a plantery enviroment around a central or "sun" gear. Instead of just locking the wheels together, when a wheel starts to spin, the helical gears move and attempt to move the central sun gear.. which moves the torque to the wheel that is not spinning.
Phantom Grip. This is more like an old fashioned "locker" in that when under extreme acceleration, the little spring loaded blocks move and jam the existing spider gears of the diff with the main gear.. this locks both wheels together. Under normal acceleration, the blocks move a little bit, setting up a "clutch like" action against the spiders...
Where the Phantom Grip breaks down compared to the others.. it is only a couple peices of phosphate covered metal.. which in turn put pressure on the existing differential gears.. grinding against and even trying to crush the gears within.
Of the three.. the Quaife is the most modern design and the best for a street driven car. The Kaaz unit is a real LSD and works well on the track and in rally (Where the quaife does not work at all) and can even allow a car with a broken CV joint to move under it's own power.

Well, what I read told me that If I buy the Phantom... later I will have to buy a new differential.... I really don't trust about the phantom Grip... It looks so simple.... so cheap.... in other way, the Kaaz and the Quaife has the same price...between 800 and 900.. depending where you buy it...
I will save some money to buy it in the future..... I will buy first the Clutch Kit.... the 6 pad disck ... and the clutch.... later I will buy the Flywheel....
But deffinitely I willl buy the Quaife.... So Littlejohn, I will call you as soon as I have the money...
An I'm with you, Share tips and advices... have to be the first rule to be on a forum... beside of making new friends with the same interest..
Thanks to all ....

You're crazy man, pick up the VHR clutch kit we just did the Group Buy on. You get the clutch, 350 HP it'll hold, a forged lightweight flywheel, and a new lightweight pressure plate.
It's a fantastic kit and it's cheaper than buying all of the parts seperately. And let's face it, if you are gonna be getting down in the clutch you may as well replace them all at once.

Where is that group???
I was thinking on buy it separately because the Huyndai Performance store sell it at good price.... the Kspec sell all the parts including the flywheell but at a higher price... It's looks great... but I have to do a research about the benefits of both kits....
By the way... my car has a pull or push clutch??? I'm less than a newbie on this topic... oops.gif oops.gif

Well, teh Group Buy is done, but if you go into the Real Engineering forums here you can talk to Rick. He can get you a good deal.
We DO sell it at Kspec.com, but honestly, I think Rick has a better price on this.
