Ongoing Dash Light Problem
I posted a long time ago about my dash light problem and it still hasnt been resolved, mainly because I can live with it but I'd like to get it resolved. After installing an aftermarket CD player and a minor wreck around the same time, the dash lights quit working. All the guages work and the lights for the battery, high beams, etc. still function. The main lights are the ones that don't work. I pulled another dash out of another Tiburon and tried it and had the same problem. The airbag light is on and tripped around the same time as the wreck and installation. The dimmer switch seems to be functioning correctly and all the fuses are in good shape (the ones under the hood and near the driver side door). I thought about taking it to a dealership and seeing if they could hook it up and see a problem but I wanted to know what someone on here thought first. Any suggestions for the problem?

You shorted out either the green/white or green/black wires. There's a fuse under your hood you'll need to replace. Go check the left tail lamp fuse(10A) in the engine bay, as well as fusible link F(40A).
Your problem is on here somewhere http://hmaservice.com/GRAPHICS/E2/E27B336A.jpg but it's probly just a fuse.

The fuses under the hood are good. I'll check the fusible link later tonight, but wouldnt that mean that the tail lights and a lot of other lights would be out, not just the illumination lights for the guages?
i know the taillight is some-how connected with the interior lights. a couple of months ago i had the same problem. once i replaced the taillight fuse everything was a-ok. knowing that you said your fuses were all ok-...
my advice is to kinda trace your wires see if they are caught in any pinch points. (one to look for would be where the taillight bolts up to the frame. it happened to me)
this is just a guess but, the stock cd player or musical device had a ground wire connected to the back of the casing. most aftermarket cd player don't have an area for that to be connected make sure that isn't grounding out on anything (wrap it up in tape).
check out hmaservice go to the "ts" part and start digging! you should find something!
