New Muffler For 98 Tib
Hey guys I think ive gotten tired of the raspy sound of my stock muffler and want to put a new one on there - not neccessarily loud, but just a low rumble and i was hoping you guys could help me with figuring out what size i need and some good brands to pick from - i dont want to be paying any more than like say around the 100 dollar mark, i know you dont have the really good performance ones but this is more a cosmetic type fix rather than a performance boost thing. and ill most likely be buying from ebay so maybe some tips to avoid the fake shit but still find a good deal smile.gif thanks guys

what i would do is save a 150 more...then you would be to get a custom exhaust made...
mines cost me about 300 and that includes headers...my setup is
obx headers-carsound cat-summit racing glasspack-n1 clone muffler and im happy with the results...and it is under axle exhaust...
SOCKS saw it and he used it was good work for the cheap amount that i paid

the guy before me put on aftermarket headers - idk what they are but thats already done - my situation is more that i have the money for the parts and to pay someone to do it since i dont know shit about cars but i refuse to take my car to a garage for anything. last time i did that midas told me i needed a 700 dollar brake job for my right front wheel just starting to grind.. f*** midas
but anyway lol i guess im adding that i dont think i want to do that much work on the exhaust and if i spend the money there i wont be able to afford the sound system im getting sad.gif and a good system takes precedence over performance in my eyes (at least right now)

RedZ had a great post on the new exhaust he got. He went to midas first, and had the exact same reaction you did. Just find a small custom exhaust shop and have them do it. Search his posts to find the thread.
What Mwood said though, is right on, especially since you have the money for it.

I recommend getting a magnaflow muffler.

They sound nice and look pretty good and not ricey. But they usually cost betwee n a little more than $100.
As for an exhaust, I had mine custom made at a random smaller muffler shop. it's 2 1/4 inch. It was pretty cheap (about $200) but it's only slightly better than stock. it's not mandrel bent wither, most places don't do that tho, and it will cost alot more.Â

alright so i might be missing something or doing this wrong but i read red mans post on his custom exhaust and i think im going to go with
for the muffler
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dynomax-177...sspagenameZWD1V
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vibrant-2-5...sspagenameZWDVW
for the tip
but then i dont know what i should get for a resonator and/or what to look for sad.gif
and as for all the piping im assuming i can just take my parts to a garage and they will fit the piping as needed? or do i need to buy that before i take it in also?

Get a 28" thrush glasspack from anywhere online. Then take what you have to a local shop (look in the yellow pages for exhaust) and they'll do all the piping and everything. You don't need to buy any more. Go for about a 2.25" diameter piping, 2" if that's all they have, or even 2.5" if you must.
The things you have linked to should be fine, and the shop will do the rest.
