Well here's the new setup:

Megan Racing Header
All 2.5" Piping
2.5" Flex
Magnaflow Catalytic Converter <--Click Me for more info
29" Cherry Bomb Glasspack <--Click Me for more info
Dynomax Super-Turbo Muffler <--Click Me for more info

Okay so here's a clip of the new header, no cat, can style muffler:

Here's the new setup with everything installed minus an exhaust tip (havent decided on one yet):

Now why is it so quiet? I like the tone but it's quieter than when I had the can style muffler on a completely stock exhaust. Everyone else with a similar setup, sounded like it was louder than this.

Any ideas on making it louder without going back to that nasty buzzing sound? I can hardly hear it during normal driving.

Give it a few days to two weeks to get it worn in a bit, then see if you like it or not.

Hell, from what I can hear, it sounds fantastic so far. What do you have done INTAKE wise?

^^^ Yeah I cant afford to get anything done soon anyways after buying all this. Hopefully it deepens as it breaks in. As for the intake, Ive got a true AEM Cold Air with the Dryflow filter, stock TB and manifold.

quiet = good smile.gif
Let us know if you get a CEL from that cat (it takes a few highway drives i think)

Does the exhaust smell noticeably different/worse than stock?

Fully agree. Exhaust is NOT the thing you want obnoxiously loud.

It'll also deepen up when you do more intake work.

got some header buzz on full load there like i do right now. i might be wrong. sounds alright, nothing real spectacular. i think the best i've heard is the 1.6L's in europe:

a little loud, but another resonator somewhere and it would be good.

I don't want it obnoxiously loud, just loud enough to hear it in the car when I drive, It makes driving the Tib that much better to me. As for exhaust smell, right now its mostly noticeable because of all the components burning off the oils and whatnot. I'll have to get back to you on that in a day or so I guess once its all burned off.

Believe it or not, the tip of the muffler can add quite a bit of sound. When my exhaust was too loud when I was N/A I went back to the stock tip to quiet and deepen it a bit - It'd work the opposite in worse.

If you still have the old can muffler you can try and find a way to weld the tip onto the new muffler you have.

Cheap and probably worth a shot maybe.
