that is probably the best idea.. you are going to need the kit fitted to the car anyway. You can be doubly custom

It won't be too bad if you maybe go 2.25inch from the header to the Y-Pipe, and go 2inch from the Y-Pipe to the mufflers me thinks. Course that eliminates using a fabbed GK exhaust as they are all 2.5 or 2.25 all the way thru.

A friend of mine has a body kit with the dual cutouts for his Elantra. He was going to get the dual set up too but I talked him into getting a single exhaust. It looks just fine.

It's so much rice!!! when only one (from two) tips is connected to exhaust system

Personally, if you are going to stick with that kit, I'd get the second hole closed up.

Good idea!
dual exhaust will not help performanse wise on 4 cyl engine. You can achive better results with single exhaust.

But I like the way dual exhaust look (but only when 2 tailpipes are working).

I've driven Spiffywerks Cuda C1 dual exhaust tibby. Pretty hard too I might add around some local streets with him behind me in my car. I really think until you start making any serious power, you wont be too hindered by the dual setup.

Keep in mind your car barely makes over 100whp. Sad but true. You're not gonna miss the 3whp or so you'll loose cause you dont have it now. If you make a total of 5 whp or so from the exhaust it'll still feel better, just not as good as the 8 or 9 or so.

I got 17whp off a stock header and Apex-i N1 Exhaust. It all has to do with flow. So just go custom, and make the kit look right. You'll get enough crap for having a kitted Hyundai, it'll be even worse if you driving around with fascade parts all over, like "aerodynamics" lol, and fake exhaust, bad mix with Hyundais, let the civic kids stick with that setup.

I know this thread is holder then jesus christ himself, but Im kind of curious about if you were to run huge amounts of boost, would the less backpressure you have from the duel exhaust benefit you more then someone running a single exhaust... these are the kinds of things i think about when im at work lol.

Duals create more backpressure than singles because of the Y pipe and more bends... I4s don't even run true duals (two separate exhaust paths from the headers to the tip)

Although in theory one could custom design a dual exhaust setup that was split 2 cylinders each...

I don't get it... How can more outlets for exhaust cause backpressure?? I would think the bigger it is, the more free it is to breathe, the better it would be. How can you get it to push back, and why would size/number of outlets change that?

Because it's still one pipe coming from the header, and when you add a Y joint to split that pipe you constrict the flow and create backpressure.
