How could it possibly loose power from upgrading the size of the pipe from stock to a larger pipe but not to a larger then large pipe?

Here's some exhaust sizes
Motoria =2.25"
OBX = 2.25
SSAutochrome = 2.25"
MBRP = 2.25"
SharkRacing = 2.38"
ARK = 63mm = 2.48"
Apexi = 2.5"
Zman's=2.5"
You went with the size of the largest exhaust pipe out there for our cars.

No, there are 3 inch exhausts out there for us.

Hey, you asked for advise man, and we are advising you right?

Right.

If you don't want the advise, don't ask for it. Or have we not had this discussion before?

2.25" or 2.5" will be good with N/A. you wont see any more power (measurable anyway) from 2.5" with N/A power levels, itll just be a bit louder.

2.25" exhaust is good for something like 220hp, 2.5" exhaust is good for something around 300hp.

it comes down to personal preference.

crush bends are fine, the difference between crush bends and mandrel bends under a mild to medium modified tib would be super minimal.

your going to make up the most flow/performance difference going from over axle, to under axle.

muffler shops dont do mandrel bends beause the machine to do them cost mad $$$. he said he would have to do over 1,000 exhaust to even make it worth while. not to mention all in ONE particular size. crush is fine, if you go under axle and angle it a tad bit like mine is. the crush is very minimal. but if you don't like angle, its going to be one more bend.

^^^
Your sig is too tall, fix it please.

Lots of muffler/exhaust shops do mandrel bends, mine did.

Ask around on your local forums and to your local friends who does exahusts that they trust, then contact them.

If you're talking about fabbing an exhaust together by buying mandrel pieces, watch out....You know what the inside of the pipe looks like when you weld 10 pieces and bends together? It splatters all over the inside, making the mandrel bend almost pointless because of the restrictions.
You are definitely better off trying to find an exhaust system like ARK, SR, maybe Apexi, or even OBX, and putting on a custom glasspack, muffler, and cat.
I still reccommend 2.5". Especially for you, since you're running nitrous.

As far as the back pressure stuff, you want to minimize backpressure throughout the exhaust. Theoretically, the best exhaust for performance is just open headers. When people say "back pressure," what they are referring to is, when the exhaust valve opens, the piston pushes exhaust gases out of the cylinder. More back pressure would mean more resistance against the piston (piston has to work harder to get gases out), and would lead to a loss of power. The reason headers are a performance part, is because they reduce back pressure in the exhaust. Theoretically, the best exhaust for performance is just open headers.
