manual ...rolling at a stop..**UPDATE**
sup..well i didnt know wut the topic should say to best describe this thread..but anywayss..
me and a buddy this afternoon got together and drove to class. We both stoped at a redlight and he pulled up next to me. He also has an rd manual..and my car was rolling backwards and his wasnt..He asked him then how come yours rolls back so much and mine doesnt at all.
Now i looked at him..and didnt know what to say...
Iv never thought of this question till yet...anyone know any answers to this?

UPDATE</u> : okay new update...went to my buddies house..cuz he really wants to get to the bottom of this his engine is stock..brakes etc... he has the vielside body kit... ( the real thing no knock off ), custom cat back.. and he poped his stock tires back on couple days ago..
I thought maybe he messed up something when he did so, so we lifted the car up and removed every wheel..i inspected briefly everything ( i was running a lil late for work ) ....everything looked fine...so we went for a quick spin again..
I noticed this time..i was prolly going 30 miles an hour..then put on a realitively hard break ( no squeeking tires tho ) ... and when i breaked...it made a deep sound coming fromt the front wheels...and the breaking was a lil boggy..( if u know wut i mean ) .. It sounded like his tires were deflated when i braked..thats wut it sounded like...so we tested the psi..and everythign checked out ..
So one..i dont understand the sound and why its making it.. 2 when breaking it feels like ur down shifting cuz its not smooth..3rd. car wont roll at all unless its on a realtive slope..
any suggestens would be great

There is no real answer to that question. Did he take his foot off the brake?
Was the street completely level at the point where you guys stopped?
How fast were you going when you hit the brakes?
There are a lot of variables to account for when this happens. I dont think there is a real science behind it. 8)

Considering all variables are the same, it could be.
His rotors are warped
Tires under pressure
Caliper pistons aren't releasing as well
Brakes pads are gripping more
More/Less weight
Bigger rims
Crack in the road
These are just random guesses and some may be wrong but there could be a million reasons.

If you have the clutch engaged, then let off the clutch and put on the gas your gonna roll back. If you have the clutch and gas both engaged near where the clutch "catches" you'll stay in one spot... I think thats what your asking but I'm not sure?
There really are innumerable reasons why one car would roll and another wouldn't. Assuming both are sitting on the EXACT same slope.. it can be any of the following.
Low tire pressure
too tight bearings
warped rotors
sticking brakes
foot on brake
hand brake on
Just a "tight" car
That is not even considering the differences in the road..

maybe his E-brake isn't all the way down and therefore applying slight pressure on the rear pads ALL the time?
IMO, it was probably just that the pavement wasn't level on your side of the road.
or he could have had his foot on the brake but not had enough pressure on it to trigger the lights....(I know mine is like that) and was just fvckin w/ ya.
