i just bought my 1999 tiburon with new plugs, wires, tps, maf, iac, tires, and a fresh oild change. the car has an idle problem and i cleared the computer of all the codes when i got it. now im getting the MAF low code.
so... i check the wiring and its been cut, and a harness from an 00 up tiburon is in its place(colors are diferent). so if anyone can help, please get me a pic or even a read out of the color to pin! my wires to the maf are red black tan and green where others are red black brown and pink.

i also need a new tranny and pressure plate but that is getting done this tuesday before work hopefully.

Check webtech mang. Sometimes you'll get lucky and get a wiring diagram with pinouts.

i checked all the webtechs, i couldnt find any wiring on any year for maf. ive even went and used michelles on demand at a local shop. all i could find was the same as the second wiring harness that was added to my original one (the black red brown and pink)

i just want it fixed before my new trany, clutch, and flywheel is in! my pressure plate has given in at a whooping 201k. glad i mastered shifting without pushing the clutch...lol

Can you pop the tob back in? I had that problem with a crappy tob and I had to keep popping the sucker back into place.

You didn't look hard enough. You have to go to ETM not to SHOP for electrical stuff.

00-01 Tiburon MAF wires are:
black - ground
red/white - power
tan (= brown) - maf sensor ground, goes to ECU pin 14
pink - maf sensor signal, goes to ECU pin 41


99 Tiburon MAF wires
black - ground
red/white - power
green/black - maf sensor ground, ECU 14
gray - maf sensor signal, ECU 41

Using a potentiometer is not a very robust way of altering a signal voltage. Ideally you should use an op amp, like the LM741, in a voltage following configuration. This way you could tweak it to read higher or lower without altering the current at the MAF. http://webpages.ursinus.edu/lriley/r...its/node5.html

No need, as you can see the MAF sensor is a voltage divider. Basically 3 resistors and a potentiometer. The operational amplifier is there to get the difference between the standard and the modified value.

Basically with 10,000 ohms of resistance, the MAF is still in control, but the potentiometer allows you to add a riding voltage level.

Very hard to say how altering the MAF signal like that is going to affect WOT AFRs after the ECU adjusts its long-term fuel trims. It's ghetto at best, and very much off topic in this thread.
