Default loud buzzing

well pretty much i have a loud buzzing coming from my 00 tib 5spd with 56k (stock) (for now) . the sound seems to be coming out of my muffler area or maybe the muffler its self. It only happens when the car is warmed up and i am reving it or gasing it.. any ideas of what it is? bad muffler maybe?

THANKS

If you kick the muffler, does it move? If so, probably the rubber things are loose.

I doubt there is anything wrong with it dude. No need to go buy a new one. If anything, jack it up and make sure the hangers are still there and attached well and its not hitting on anything.

A muffler can't really "go bad." What he describes really has nothing to do with anything that can go wrong inside one. Its just a pipe with some passageways in it. I never heard of the little passageways (can't think of the correct term lol) breaking... which would cause a slight buzzing similar to a straight thru muffler. Which would increase performance LOL.

HAHAHA, muffler belt! that brings a tear to my eye.. well back to my muffler.. i just checked under the car and everything looks fine, but! theres 3 X's written in white pen on the "thick part of my exhuast piping" the part after the cat converter?.. sorry, im not exactly an "under the car" kinda guy. well i bought the car used a few months ago, so could that be the problem? never had this kinda problem with my first tib!

THANKS FOR ALL THE QUICK POSTS!

Dunno why thats there. If your sure its the muffler, and not a hatch piece vibrating or just the muffler vibrating against the axle or something, you could get a new muffler (aftermarket) or a new cat-back exhaust all together.

hmm... i guess ima have to have it checked out. i looked under the car and nothing is really touching the muffler or the piping besides the rubber piece next to the bumper, but that wouldnt cause the buzzing... its coming out of the muffler, not around it..hope its nothing too serious, but if it is the piping, im most likely gonna do a WTB for a stock muffler and piping for pretty cheap.. i dont have the cash to buy aftermarket otherwise i would.....

I would also like to add that the noise is pretty loud, it can be heard inside the car and is very loud outside... i wonder what the hell it could be!

thanks

most of the time buying aftermarket is only a little more expensive than buying stock on ebay, and its usually cheaper than any oem part from the dealer. BTW since its an '00 does it have a warrantee? if so let the dealer check it out.
