Lock passenger window switch
Ok, im running low on switches, how can i wire something to make it work of the switch on the umm, idk how to call it the, "dont allow the passenger to open or close the window on his side" switch, is there anyway i can hook up like lights to that, or something, like, i basicaly never use that switch, i just want it to turn on and off a simple light for example. Any ideas how i would do that, or if its even possible?

Funny, I was just thinking about this the other day. Weird.

Just a quick search on Webtech but there is something electrical about it. I'm not sure how well it'll work the way you want it. You'll have to disconnect it from the entire system and make sure that there is a connection to where the switch controlled the passenger window. Then you could prolly work something out.
If you don't do it this way it'll be a major PITA to work with.

lol, great minds think alike, i cant find anything on HMA, never, i have bad luck with that site lol, but i dont quite get what your explaining on how id be able to do it, i just want it to work as a on off switch basicaly for something, tnx though silvertibbs, hopefully we got some kind of electrical specialist around here who can think up a simple way to do this, lol.

Well it'll work just fine. Take what you want to control and hook it up to the switch. I know what I'm talking about, kinda.
Either way you'll have to disconnect it from the circuit it's in now. It basically just controls the current between the two windows. When the switch is depressed it closes the circuit so the pass. window is inactive. When it's up it opens the current so you can use the pass. window.
So methinks you have two options.
1. Use it in conjuction with the pass. window controls, which would be a pain. The window won't work no matter what you do when you have the device turned off.
or
2. Render the switch useless and use it separately from the windows altogther. This way all you have to do is send a power source to the switch and take the power that was originally used in the switch and connect it to the pass. window control. (which should already be there) All you do is change the power wire going to the switch.

ok i think i need to use method number two, lol, how would i get to the wire and hook up the rest, ok ill be honest what i wanna do, lol, embarasing abit, lol, i wanna hook up my ricer blue led washer nozzle lights to the switch, lol, right now i have it hooked up to the fuse under the hood for the positional lights, but i wanna have control over them for legal reasons, so i can have my normal lights on without using the blue ricer lights.
Edit. btw i wanna be able to still use the passenger side window from both sides

Yeah, I gotcha. Basically you have to get inside that door control. This might be impossible if its on a circuit board. But you won't know til you get in there. maybe wait a bit to see if someone knows for sure or not.
Yeah, if you want to do that your going to have to rewire it and such. Its going to be a PITA... why don't you just buy a little switch panel with like 5 switches on it and mount it somewhere like in the ashtray? Nothing more ricey than using your window lock switch to control L.E.D window washer nozzles, LOL. And then you have a few more switches for later on when you have to get the matching Neon undercar lights and NAWWWZ. smile.gif
ya im hoping some electrical spec who knows about the wireing in the door locks might come around like idk...umm *cough* CHRIS!! (Tibby01) *COUGH*
I have never seen inside that switch.. but I can tell you that the entire assembly is one unit from the factory. I agree with just adding a switch plate someplace else. Maybe the ashtray or in the glove box, or even in the storage area of the centre console...
thats probably what im gonna end up doing, any ideas how i would actuayl pull in cables from the engine bay through the firewall, i heard of a magical little hole that is predrilled for that, but dont know where it is, anyone wanna clue me in? lol, i dont wanna drill my own hole and make it fugly
