You don't rip the engine apart to put on a flywheel.

The crank, I wouldn't worry about it till you are pushing some serious power.

If I where you I would leave the crank alone unless your going for 500+ horsepower, Knife edging the crank is to reduce the windage in the crankcase that can cause problems at higher rpms, you can gain a few HP due to the lowering of the weight it but thats not it's main purpose so if your running the factory rev limiter you really won't need it. The lighter flywheel on the other hand would be a good idea.

Agreed. Knife edging is only worth it on cars like the Honda S2000, the BMW M3, and my fiat spider (which is going to have an 8k redline), Basically knife edging allows the crank to slip through any splashed oil or oil spray in the pan without getting slowed down by it. (try running the flat of your hand through water and then try it again whit your hand turned sideways). This also reduces blowby as the crank will not be making MORE oil mist in the crankcase.

Losing some weight on the crank is just an added benefit.

A light weight flywheel is a RIGHT now mod that is really noticible. And yes, you do not need to tear apart the engine to do it. A light weight flywheel will allow your engine to spin faster, this will allow the turbo to spool easier, and it will put less stress on the clutch and transmission as that big hevy flywheel is not trying to over or under drive them when shifting.
