OK, I got the JSpeed power underdrive pulley and I want to install it, but a friend of mine says that because it is made of aluminum it will breake somehow easily because of all the tension and force that occurs in that part of the engine, and because of the belts that are too tight...I tell him that that won't happen, but i'm already kinda afraid, so this is my concern. Can somebody advise me? sad.gif

2. Lots of people have had them and installed them, you'll be fine.

3. You have to change your belts, make sure to get the right one. Search.

 

Normally the aftermarket underdrive pulleys are made of aircraft grade aluminum. Lots of people have them on their cars and the only time I hear any of them failing is because of flaws in the material not because of stress fractures. Shouldn't ever have any problem with it--I haven't.

there's currently no exact belt sizes posted for JSpeed pulley. only OBX pulley have been tested out with different size belts

 

well, I have the unorthodox racing underdrive crank pulley on my tib. When I installed it 60,000 miles ago, there was still talk about these potentially destroying your engine due to the removal of the harmonic balancer. at 124,000 miles and still climbing, my tib runs just as smooth and powerful as when new.. and I still get over 30mpg to boot. Unfortunately, I lost the numbers for the belts, so I cannot offer that to you as an idea of what ones you need.

But honestly, I would not worry about the pulley breaking, nor would I worry about it causing damage to your car. Save for a slightly faster ability to rev and the headlights dimming some at idle, you would really never know it was there.

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about, lightweight pulleys have been used for years by hundreds of thousands of tuners around the world.

 

OK, so i'm safe installing that pulley lmao.gif . Now ,for the belts, i still can use the same ones, right?

 

think of it this way, fidanza aluminum flywheels are usually stronger then the oem steel one they replace. only reason i would worry is if it was a cheap no name brand that has no credibility.
