Are Intakes Transmission Specific?
Im New To The Whole tib Thing. I Personally Dont Drive A tib But My Girlfriend Has An Auto 2001 Silver tib. She Wants The Body Kit And All This Other Visual Stuff. I Didnt Want Her To Look Like A Ricer So I Made A Deal With Her Ill Help Her With The Visual Stuff If She Lets Me Upgrade The Performance. So My Question Is What All Can I Do To Make It Better? I Dont Normally Deal With Aoutmatics, I Personally Drive A Stick. All the Intakes I Found Say 5-Speed Only. So What All Can I Do? 5-speed Swap Is Out Of The Question At This Time. Thanks In Advance!

welcome to the forums. i think it's great what you're going to do. show her some examples though. for both generation tiburons there isn't a lot of aftermarket.
to my knowledge, there's no real difference between auto and 5 speed CAI. the problem is though that if you put a 3" cai it will hit the automatic transmission from the bottom, dent, rub, and eventually puncture it. with automatic go 2.5'', with 5 speed you go 3".
as for the bodykit thing, yeah molding a front lip i think is the best way to go because it gives the car that subtle look and is cheap.

^^ Yeah, the manual and automatic intakes are the same. I also agree about the lip.
The HD Lip (search for it) is a good first visual mod. It's easy, and cheap.
Don't type that way or the administrators will skin you alive. Use standard sentances and don't capitolize every word. It sucks trying to read that.

there are plenty of body kits for our cars. The cold air intakes work the same for an automatic and a manual. When I had an automatic, the AEM would rub against the tranny a little and caused a slight dent (superficial, didn't hurt the quality or inside of the pipe). When I swapped to a manual there was plenty of room.
there are several options for performance or styling, whether you make your own lip kit or get a full body kit. Just make sure you DON'T buy an EBay body kit, or a FAKE Veilside kit, they're notorious for being poor quality and horrible fitment. I would put probability at 1 in 50 that are actually 'good' fitment.
look around the forums, search for stuff. We've been around for years, there's tons of information here.

DTN, it also sucks trying to read words like "sentances" and "capitolize" tongue.gif
Firefox will automatically spell-check what you write in forms if you want, you could consider switching to that.

My bad folks. It's just the way I've typed for years. It's a habit I've been trying to stop. My girl dosen't want a turbo. crying.gif I'm located in Fort Mill SC, about 5 minutes from Charolette NC. My girlfriend and I will have two projects going at a time, her tib and my car. For those of you curious, I drive a fully loaded 5 speed 2000 Ford Escort Zx2, my baby. I'm Thinking mostly bolt-ons. She is obviously gonna need a tranny cooler. Any suggestions for bolt-ons? She says she wants more off the line power. Any suggestions for that? You guys are gonna have to bare with me, I'm new to the Tiburon world. And it was me that got her into tuning it up, thank you, thank you. Thanks in advance.

^^ well, what kind of budget are you looking at? There's all kinds of "bolt-ons" for our cars. They range in price and usually follow the bang-for-buck curve.
A cold air intake is a good first modification. It familiarizes you with the engine bay and frees up alot of space for working in there. It also adds like 10 horsepower and 20 sound power (not to be confused with horse power).

I'm on a government computer. I can't install firefox or any spell checkers into IE. Sorry for the spelling.
