How To Identify A Tiburon Fx?
In the us I believe the only way to tell a FX is by the Brakes. Disks all around. The '97 Tib was the only one ever offered in the 1.8L while following years offered only 2.0L on all models FX or not. Foglights, sunroom and power lock were all options on base or FX models. So brakes is again the only way I believe. But if somebody has a base model with stock disks then I'm wrong.
I think the FX also had better seats but don't remember much about that.

power windows should be on every tib ever made due to the way the interior door panel is made. theres really no place for a window crank to go and hyundai was too cheap to design 2 panels for both options

the sunroof has nothing to do with it, it has always been entirely optional. poer windows have always been optional. Tiburon was released in Q3-4 1996 and throughout 1997 they had "Revision A" featuring some mechanical enhancements like higher quality materials, some extra sensors, evap location, and screws for assembly. FX has the 2.0 motor only, rear discs & calipers, 15'' alloy rims with dunlop tires. foglights, and factory spoiler with third brakelight. stereo was also optional. offered in Europe was a 1.6L (slow but economic as heck). the SE model was only available as a 1999 model in Canada, it featured a different muffler, "shark" wing, and rims. the German special featured different interior materials and a different steering wheel.
The F2 in the UK had different evap settings, cams, additional lip, rims, and new paint color. The F2 Evolution had the same but upgraded interior materials, a few aluminum trims like sills and shifter surrounds, rally style rims, a front bumper and wing designed by Peter Stevens (McLaren F1).
in 2000 they eliminated the 1.8L and FX badges altogether, changed the materials (sensors, plastic components) to "cheaper" and lighter materials that shed a few pounds and offered the previous FX components all standard minus the FX title.
The "turbulence" model was released exclusively in Korea featuring "turby" skirts and different wheels, & rear spoiler.

As I was told the 97 was the only FX that was made. Cuz I have a 97 and it says FX right on the title. I have all power options except for the door locks. The FX also came with the 2.0, which I have in my car and the 4 wheel discs. And yes I also have the power sunroof. But unless my title is wrong, or all my research is wrong, then someone should correct me. Jus my input.
ok am reading and understanding the more i keep going. cuz when i bought my 98 tibby it said fx on the titlte of the advertisement. I have the following 2.0l motor, disk all around, no sun roof, power windows, electric side windows, 5 speed tranny w/o overdrive,no abs, cloth seats, and no "tiburon fx" badges on the back. heres some pics of my tibby so please let me know if you can tell if its an fx.

As mentioned above the 1.8L was ONLY offered in the 97 with drum setup..
Also not sure in the US but in CANADA we also have the SE model Tiburon which was offered on the 98 model which is exactly the same as the FX model with sunroof, rear wiper power locks, windows and the SE model had leather seats fing02.gif

Well I have a 97 tibby FX with disc setup all the way around and it does have the 2.0l motor in it. Also it has a power sunroof. Unless my title is lying I dont know whats going on here.
as said b4 only the 97 tibs came with the 1.8l engine... 98-99 came with the 2.0l... the base model has cloth seats i believe the dashboard and trim is all black has no sunroof or power mirros or a/c unless a/c is optional ... comes with back drum brakes and the rims on it are i believe 14" comes wit optional spoiler and it only comes with the small spoiler and has no fog lights or cruise or abs or any of those features! now the se model which i beleive was only available in 99 came base but with the option of upgrading everything that the fx has except the rims it came with 5 star 15" rims with the logo T for tiburon in the middle... the fx came with fog lights sunroof all the features etc. came with 15" rims but the rims have a spiral to it and have the H logo in the middle ... come with leathers either the black ones or the 2 tone .. came with the 2 tone dash had the black on the passangers side and the drivers side part had the grey!... i believe those r the differences i could b wrong tho!
