so, i took out my 6000k hid's for a while because i thought i was going to give them to my dad, but turns out he went and bought a kit the weekend i come down to hook em up for him. well, yesterday i go outside and pop em back in. tonight when i went out driving, i barely see anything. they were NOT that dim when i had them installed before, what could be the problem? they are dimmer than regular bulbs now, i don't know what the problem is 02.gif i am going to go to the guy i bought them off of tomorrow and see if replacing the ballasts will fix the problem, and if not then i'll replace the bulbs too. i was going to check if they were getting the full 12v though in a second.

Before you go replacing that ballast, I want you to check a few things.

Is the real problem related to clarity of the glass in front of the bulbs?
The glass is often overlooked as a cause of dim headlights. People tend to think that replacing the headlamps with brighter headlamps will cure their problems when the real root of the problem is that which is blocking the headlamps. Go get some headlamp lens restorer, or some 2000 grit sand paper and some plastic polish and go to town.

Are the bulbs seated properly in the H7 slots?
If the H7 Bulb is not seated properly, the tab at the top of the bulb can catch on the ring which is designed to secure the tab in a certain spot. This will cause the bulb to be canted and to display light at the wrong angles. If you go and undo the clip, then jiggle the headlamp around until it will not move you may just cure the problem.

Is your voltage correct?
If the HID is not getting the proper voltage it may go dim. Some kits will go dim. Some will blow fuses. Some higher quality kits will just turn off to avoid blowing fuses. When HIDs do not have enough voltage, they will try to pull more amperage to make up for the lost wattage. It's possible that your battery is going dead. Check your battery while the car is running. If a multimeter displays less then 13VDC, then your problem may be located somewhere within the charging circuit.

battery reads 12.69 after sitting a few hours. the voltage with engine on and rpms at 2000 is 14.8. the projector lens was actually cleaned a few weeks ago as was the inside and outside of the headlight lens when i had the headlight apart painting the housing white. when it gets a little bit warmer i'll check the voltage the actual ballasts are receiving. i planned on going to the guy on saturday but i couldn't, had issues with my girlfriend being a bi-.... not being very cooperative. he'll give me replacement stuff for free, he's really good about that stuff. i'm almost 100% sure that the bulbs are seated right. i'll have to look at that when i check the voltage they are receiving

h7..... are you meaning the bulbs for the rd2 tiburon? i have a 97, the bulbs are 9006. i don't know if your meaning something else or if you were saying h7 because you have an rd2 smile.gif not being a gripe or anything just trying to make sure i don't misread anything.

he assumed you had an RD2.

Check the connections to the ballast and from ballast to bulbs. I'm guessing it's a power issue. Disconnect and reconnect, maybe you can figure out what's wrong.
