Default Help Install E/H questions!

Hey guys, so me and my dad are going to be installing them either tommorow or sunday and i got a couple question's.

1. About how long should it take to do this install, both header and exaust.

2. I bought the apexi N1 exaust from rick, this should bolt up/hang in the exact same places that the stock exaust was hung from right?

3. After the install is complete can i drive my car around for a day or two with out the O2 sensor's installed or is that bad?

4. In the box the exaust was in there is a black rubber piece w/ two screw holes in it. It looks like its about 2 inch's long and an inch or so thick, what is it?

Thats it....

1. Removing and installing the new exhaust shouldn't take more than an hour, even if your completely retarded, the extra pair of hands helps loads. The header may take a lot longer, maybe 3 hours if you have to remove stuff to get them to fit.

2. Yep... bolts and hangs same place... except the muffler hangers I would suppose since the muffler goes under the axle on the N1.

3. Bad. Very bad.

4. a hanger.

Remember they may have to be modified to get them to fit together... you may have to get an exhaust shop to make them go together.

The muffler hangers are the same, the muffler will be at an angle when you hook it up. The rubber piece is just an extra hanger they threw in, you can reuse your stock ones.

Hardest part of this whole thing might be taking old rusted bolts off. When I first had to remove bolts on my exhaust under the car I had to take it to a shop. They heated them up and spend 45 minutes to unscrew and screw all the bolts back on on my exhaust. Header should not be too bad though.

You will be fine without o2 sensor. I didn't even hook mine up a while ago when I had 4-1 headers and car worked just fine. Just had a CEL.

Dude, the first O2 sensor should fit no problem, the second, you may have to get a bung put in.

Don't forget also, like these guys said, this setup will probably need some modification to go in, as the Korean tibs do not have an IDENTICAL exhaust to us. Cat's and such. I could be wrong of course.

Take bunches of pics mang.

I would definatly get the second 02 installed as soon as you can. I am not certain, but having only one working might also throw the car into a "limp" mode which will knock back your timing and add too much fuel.

At the very least staring at the bright CEL is never fun, especially at night.

take it to a exhaust shop and have them install a new flange on your midpipe

uh oh, poor planning. A Muffler shop should be able to help you there if you have the dough for labor.

Are you eliminating cat?

Your headers may need some "motivation" getting on the block bolts. A hammer or wrench should do the job. Be sure to replace old gaskets (exhaust manifold and connector gaskets for piping)...I used old ones for only a week and took em off only to see massive blow-by marks=exhaust leak...) 02.gif
