I just got my header, and im trying to decide if I should wrap it. Does anyone have any information on doing this and how effective it is?

I would recommend it. The stock manifold has the heat cover on it, and the aftermarket one is thinner, so more heat will go out. Overall it's better for your engine, less noise from the header, and you get cooler underhood temps (better for intake). But it you would really like to see the rusting header, go ahead, leave it off cool.gif
For the small cost, though, I would really recommend it.

keeps heat inside the pipes which makes the exhaust hotter and it leaves quicker. thats how i justify it. i think its a good idea and it will look better than the rusted/discolored header if done right.

I would have them jet hot coated. wrapping is good but it will crack i have seen it here on alot of tibbys. and you never wrap your turbo the same thing has happen to the turbine blades they crack and the turbo goes buy buy. i know peps have done this with no problem but we have had to replace two turbos in the last 3 weeks. almost a week and a half after we wraped them but the downpipe is ok . i did mine down and under the oil pan that is a far as i went

It works but destroys the material that is wrapped.

Personally, I only wrapped my downpipe because one, I'm upgrading it later cause its small. Second, it goes right by the alternator so I really don't want to fry it.

If you have N/A headers.. by all means do it. Ceramic coating would be nice, but heat wrapping is a much cheaper alternative.

The header wont crack... unless you have a real cheap quality header.

If its a turbo manifold, i wouldint ceramic coat it. Manifolds mainly crack due to poor welds. Dont bother wasting money on ceramic coating it.... unless you have had it on the car for over 15K miles and its still holding up.

So in the meantime... by all means. Heat wrap it.
