Default Headlights not working right

My driver side dim headlight does not turn on but if I turn on the brights it does. It looks like someone wired in a new plug and must have gotten the wires wrong. Does anyone know which colors are what?

I think yellow is power and brown is ground. Can you take a pic and add it on here so we can see?

I hate to be Capt. Obvious here, but did you try a new bulb before you go digging into the wiring? Not trying to sound like a D bag, more just trying to save you a step before getting in to more complicated things.

That would make sense if the bright light and dim light were one bulb but the are different bulbs so it has to be wiring if my dim light comes on when I turn on my brights.

I would expose the wiring to check the condition of the splicing. At that time you can turn on the low beams and see which wire is getting power with a test light. Fix any janky splices and tape or shrink wrap the connections and you should be good to go unless there are other problems.

You can also test the socket on the passenger side to see which wire should be getting power.

Still going for bulbs first before wiring, unless this is a brand new-to-you car. If the lamps on the other side work properly, swap the bulb from the other side for testing. If they're HID use a clean cloth to transfer the bulb or you'll burn it up when the bulb lights.

My understanding is that the low beam turns on when he turns on the high beam, sounds like the bulb is fine.
