I'm thinking about buying some new shiny headers, but I can't decide if I want 4 to 2 to 1 heads or straight 4 to 1? I am not well educated on the topic, but from what I understand about exhaust, I believe the 4 to 1 heads will create a lot more back pressure, while the 4-2-1 will keep air velocity higher along with keeping the pulses smoother. I'm just not sure which one will work for mid-high RPM on a daily driver. Any input is well appreciated smile.gif

I have Shark Racing 4-1 header an it performs on the top end! The 4-2-1 header performs more in the lower range. Larrs

So I'm looking at the KFX equal length stainless steel Headers. Hows that sound? I saw there was some hype on them about a year ago and it caught my eye.

That is going to be your best bet, they are the cheapest 'quality' headers available and are located within the country. Unlike the SR headers you are looking at which will be from Korea if you even happen to recieve them. And dont even bother with obx

KFX FTW

OBX header's are not bad, Just alot of work to get them fitted on, I just installed my Brand New OBX header an so far Im very happy with the sound an performance I noticed right away after the install, If you dont want to spend alot of money then a OBX is the best way to go, you will need someone who can weild to get a nice fitment tho, I did all my own weilding, Mine turned out awesome, I will throw in some pic's, see what you think. Took me about 5 hour's, being I didnt know I needed to do any weilding, I was told it was a direct bolt-up, It was not tho..

I got OBX to, was a pain in the genetals to fit, as radiator needed removing to get it over bolts, and the flange is pulled right up to the blootm of the block, once welded up though its great, onbly downside was through my bad choice of cat, I got a sports one, so loose backpressure with it, am getting it sorted though. Another ex Gen1 owner in the Uk had OBX headers, a Skoda Octavia OEM cat welded in, and 2.5" catback, along with a CAI and uprated ignition system he dyno'd nearly 170bhp.

4-2-1 more low end, broader more linear torque curve, trails off a small amount usually around 5500 RPM.

4-1 more top end, more narrow torque curve, shifts the power band into the upper RPM range usually around 4000+.

It depends alot on the engine itself, how much back pressure is in the exhaust and how well designed the headers are,
shitty headers can make your engine run worse, whereas a well designed header will scavenge better and flow smoother.

Figures based on personal observation and experience.

No offense bud but you need to relearn how to weld.

Does Flyryde even sell the equal length headers? I've been away for awhile, so I don't even know if he's in business anymore.
If you're getting headers, those are definitely the way to go.
