Gearbox difference rd1 vs rd2
Hi Guys,
Been a long time!
I busted a gearbox, Quaife bolts came lose, pushed bearing out driveshaft seal, case buggered.
I can only seem to find a secondhand RD2 gearbox to use as a case replacement.
But I notice a few differences, mainly there are nolonger any bolts to hold the selector rods in place, this seems
to be part of the casing now.
Are there any other differences?
I plan on putting the RD1 internals into the RD2 case, as they are all pretty new.

W'oh.... blast from the past! Serious OG member right there. lol
Anyway Im pretty sure both gearboxes are the same between the two Gens but maybe someone can chime in and confirm it.

Stripped both down, not alot of difference,
Input Shaft oil holes are bigger and in different places.
5th Gear synchro is now held enclosed by the input shaft nut, no longer relying on the case.
Gear selector rods no longer have ball-bearing guides, pretty much free floating.
