Gas Gauge

ok, so my gas gauge goes up and down all the time. if i floor it, the gas drops a LOT. then starts to rise up again, and its really beginning to piss me off, cuz ill be out of gas, then suddenly have gas again! so annoying. anyone else ahve this? or is it just my car

Sounds like your float went bad.

It's a little plastic bubble that floats around in your fuel tank. There is an arm attached to it which is attached to a sensor. That sensor sends info to the fuel gauge. Kinda looks like this:



On a 2000 Tib it's either part# 94460-29810 or 94460-29820. The latter one is most likely correct (replacing the old one). I don't think the float is sold by itself. Shouldn't be too awfully bad.

Part # 94460-29820 - Fuel Tank Sender Assy.
It's on the upper left part of that pic
The pic is from a 97 Rev A, cuz it doesn't show the EVAP Canister, but it's good enough until Webtech is back.

But yeah, anyway, that part is about $100. See if you're still under warranty.

That float send the signal of "low fuel"???? my "low fuel light" turn on nearly the tank is completely empty....like 10 miles more......
