Default Funny sound....

Ok, this has been going on for a little while but my car seems to be making a humming sound. Sounds like its comming from both the front left and front right of my car near the wheel wells. The Sound is only heard when I am driving. I think that it may be the berrings but im not sure. Anyone know what it could be?

Could be underinflated or bald tires... not necessarily a suspension problem.

Brakes? LOL. If the humming noise is more apparent @ highway speeds, I would definately check your tires to see if they have enough air or if they are worn down.

check Kit's title (below username)....LOL ouch.gif
kinda gives you an appropriate perspective on his advice....
wheel sounds can indicate lots of things. What have you checked so far? Start to narrow down problem by finding out what it couldn't be.

WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKE IDEA!?!?! WTF?! Brakes whine and hum when they start going down. try putting your front end up and spinning the wheels by hand to hear if theres anything at any point obstrcting it or if there is something rubbing against it, do the same for each of the four wheels. (hey at least i didnt say something stupid like put the front up on two jacks and turn the car on to see if u can see something lol)

As you can hear it from both sides simultaniously.. I think it is probably tyres... but before going off on a tangent.. I would bring somebody along in the passenger seat and ask them where they think it is coming from. While I have never heard of both bearings going out at the same time, I would not put it out of the equation totally, I am sure it has happened at one time or another.

My personal feelings.. worn out tyres (they do get louder as they get worn down
Underinflated tyres (also very loud)
Bearings...

In that order.

brakes do make that noise. My ex-Geo Metro (go ahead and joke, it was a darn good car) did that. but i was more of a grinding noise i think

I was going to drop a crx engine in the metro lol. a sleeper. it fits i saw the tutorial. but then i just couldnt see puting that much time into a tin can. but it still would have been funny...
