My cars making a funny knocking noise. i can only hear it at an idle and sometimes when i slowly let off the clutch (not giving it any gas) and the car starts to move. My dad said he thinks its somthing hitting the fire wall but im not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

check your oil recently?

 

All my fluids including oil are fine. The noise sounds like its comming from some where behind the engine. I can hear it really well from inside the car. You can hear it from outside the car too but only if you lift up the hood and lean over the back center part of the engine. Sounds like a rattling noise, kinda like somthing is loose or shaking around.

 

bolt come loose on your IM??

can you ONLY hear it when the engine is running?? or if you have it turned off and rock your tib from side to side can you hear it?

 

Yes, only when the engine is running . thats the only time you can hear it

 

check your
intake mainfold bracket.
clutch master cylinder
clutch line from master to slave
those can rattle..

hmmm
just shake the shi* out of everything near the firewall.

 

ok i'll have to do that tommorwo and see what i can come up with

 

I would get a mechanic's stethascope.. worth their weight in gold in trying to find a noise
