Fuel pump is in the tank.. but the good news is.. unlike a lot of american cars.. there is a handy hatch inside the car beneath your backseat for getting at it. Just be careful with gas fumes. You want to do this outside, with the windows of your car rolled down, the doors and hatch open and the battery disconnected.

There are two schools of thought about how much fuel to have in the tank. I prefer a full tank as there are less fumes in the tank when you open it up.

There's even a DIY in the DIY section to replace the fuel pump.

Seems easy enough. I agree with Mad-Machine, More fuel is better IMO.

Just upgrade to a DSM GST pump instead. You'll have the extra fuel just in case you need it and it's cheaper. You can find it around $25 shipped on DSMtrader.com
Or check ebay.

edit: Or dsmtalk.com http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.p...light=fuel+pump

Easy quick upgrade. If you go to a high flow pump like the Walbro 255lph then you will need to upgrade the FPR also unless you like running horribly rich.

Not sure where you are located but I have one from my (2001) tib. It has about 30k miles on it (I got a walbro). You pay for shipping and you can have it. Send me your City, State, and Zip and I can give you a shipping cost.
