When i have my throttle at 100% in any gear my car like sputters between 3,000 to 4,000 rpms then once it hits around 4,000 it takes off. My air/fuel gauge says my car is running extremely lean during this period? Does anyone know what could cause this lack of power?

The cars naturally have a flat spot in power in that area for some reason.

Are you modded heavily?

Is it in a specific gear? my old celica used to do this mainly in first gear and once it warmed up it wasnt too bad. it was a cracked distributor cap.

OT...what part of ohio are you in? im in cincinnati. if youre close we should meet up sometime before winter. there are local cruise in's around here.

No, it happens in every gear. even when the car is warmed up. I tried messing around with my safc but that didnt help...

I live in between Dayton and Lima, lil town of sidney roughly and hour and a half from cincy. If you have any upcoming car shows in the region hit me up.

Maybe bad injector? or clogged? if you go above 3-4k what happens. maybe fuel pump?

OT---ill let ya konw about the meets. they usually arent shows. its at night and bunch of people meet in a parkin lot fast and furious like lol and just walk around and talk etc. then go for a little drive on the highway to another spot

well my car has alot of miles on it, i just changed the fuel filter thinking that was the cause but to no avail. i was thinking though if it were a fuel injector wouldnt it be lean through all rpms at high throttle??

Well, in my case, I go rich as hell from 3500-4500 rpm. All the way down to around 11:1 or a bit lower.

Kind of weird because due to my case (same problem with the old tib) I assumed the flat spot everyone talks about was because the a/f was rich?

huh.

As I've said, all our cars have a flat spot in the power right there, nothing wrong with your car.

Its one of the lil demons that people fight when trying to work around the stock ECU. The demon usually wins.
