Are these two items connected in some fashion? It would make sense that they would be, but I have been driving around on "e" for a day and a half, and have yet to run out of gas OR have my idiot light come on!

I am pretty sure that I am not out of gas yet because I have only gone about 250mi. on this tank, with the normal mileage per tank (for me) being 370-385. What's going on!?!?!?!??!

The car sets on E for like 70 miles before that light comes on...

They are connected in some fashion, maybe your float got caught last time you filled the tank up from somewhere near the bottom, but not low enough to throw the light.

Or maybe God has blessed your Tibby with a never ending supply of fuel?

^^^It would be nice, but I doubt it. The funy thing is, the light used to come on much earlier, right about when the gauge touched E

Ye, those little floats are gay. I saw mine for the first time the other day after I started driving 40 miles on E, then made it two thirds of the way back hope and it came on.

When I drove up a hill, the light would turn on. When I drove down a hill, it would turn off. Was pretty funny.

If you stop really hard, you can turn it off too. or take a sharp turn....The idiot light in my bro's car comes on and stays on, no fading or going on and off, etc.

lol, i tested this once..
from the time the light comes on STEADY and BRIGHT you can go between 25-40 more miles.

my light usually comes on/off when i get to E, but the needle really goes past E, if I dont want to stop for some reason i just wait until it gets steady/bright and not fading anymore then dont go more than 15-20 miles.
i ran out of gas about a block from the gas station. lol.

fuel gauge is separate from the low fuel lamp.

For the gauge there is a float in tank with reostat. And for the lamp there is a on/off sensor.

This is happening to me also, I'm just about to hit 100,000 miles. For the past six months, whenever I get below half a tank my needle will fluctuate between E and where it's supposed to be. The light still works the way it's supposed to, so I just go by that.
