how often should these be changed? where do you buy them, is it something that doesn't make a big difference should you buy name brand (assuming there is one?)

I did mine myself = easy
Just remember that the system is pressurised, so cover the fuel line when you remove it to stop fuel spray.

Changing the Fuel Filter depends of the fuel in your area.... for example, In my country, I heard problems with Gas Station that sells fuel combined with water and have a lot of sediments in there tanks..... But there are Fuel Station that are highly recomended by the sames drivers.... specially the more experts: "Taxi drivers" lol.gif lol.gif lol.gif
It depends on your fuel quality. In the US, the gas quality is good, better than in canada. I change it every 50- 70 000km. As for the time it takes, it depends. I changed it 2 times on my car and and one time on another x3. It differend from 20min to 2h30.

um...mine took 2 months to change....
it was increadibly hard to change due simply to the fact that the bottom line was really really stuck. I'd suggest taking off the drivers side tire plus the inner wheel well to get underneath. made it so much easier to change (first couple times I tried I didn't have a jack).
good luck!! laugh.gif
oh and btw, get the filter from napa, I got mine at advanced and it only had like 2 threads on the top (purolator i think and the stock one has like 6) and I accidently stripped it the first time. I'm betting napa's filter will be much nicer.

my advice is to keep the bracket in place and get a pair of vice grips. take the vice grips at the top of the filte you will see the two little bolts if i remember right grip the top of the filter near those bolts with the vice grips really good i mean tighting htem down good but dont do nothing stupid and bend the line etc..
now get your dad or whatnot and reach under the filter with the open end wrench and on the count of 3 have your dad go in the direction to break the bolt loose on the bottom and at the same tiem with all your might and power turn the filter with the vice grips the other way from your position. if you dont do this you will probally sit there all day with the filter turning while you try to break the bottom bolt loose.
