Exhaust question
Why does the 97-98 tiburons have no 2nd cat? my 99 tiburon has one, I want to replace it but could i get rid of the 2nd cat and not get a CEL?

Only the first cat is monitored by the ECU. You can remove the second one and not get a CEL. It is illegal though, so if you live in a state with strict emissions standards they'll fail you.

California was probably the reason for adding the 2nd cat. Stupid emissions. Wasn't Hyundai sued in California for lying about the horsepower on the 2001 Tiburon because the addition of the 2nd cat dropped performance?

So what's the fix? For example, my accent has headers on it where it should have a cat but it has the rear cat and o2 sensor and I will be getting a set of headers for my Tib soon. What do I do ?
